Letters About Social Security

Filed under: economics, Social Security — Tags: , , — Walter Ebmeyer @ 9:12 am

Sometimes the letters to the Editor of the New York Times consitute some of the best thinking and writing.  Today’s letters about Social Security seem to fit that description, and you are urged to read them and contemplate their collective wisdom.

  1. I can’t tell you how many years I’ve been following this war on Social Security and the eternal prognosis that it is just about belly up. Having the wealthier tax payers pay on their entire income is the most sensible and obvious correction and will insure carrying on this almost universally appreciated socialist institution for years to come. I shudder to think that Obama will not go after this with a bludgeon if necessary but his past history suggests that he will not.
